Amazing Birthday

My Dad's birthday is coming up at the end of the month and he always complains that I don't make many cards for him. I let my 3 year old help pic out the stamp set and colors and away we went. I like the color combo and keeping it simple helped me keep it a bit on the masculine side.

It didn't scream birthday to me so I added a stamp to the inside as well.

My Dad will love the fact that Jackson helped me with this card and I love the fact that Jackson loves getting in on my card making.

Sheltering Tree - Fall Edition

One of the stamp sets that I got in the spring mini catalog was Sheltering Tree. I love the versatility of the set, specifically how it can be used for multiple seasons. I was so happy that it was carried over into the annual catalog.

With the heat of the summer I've been day dreaming about fall weather. When I sat down at my desk today the Sheltering Tree set was just calling for some beautiful fall colors.

Remarkable You

The very first stamp set that I ordered from the new annual catalog was Remarkable You. I love the sketched look of this set and I think it is perfect for a little aqua painter action.

I stamped the image with Staz-on ink and used the aqua painter and Blackberry Bliss to get the watercolor look. I then punched the image out with my 2 1/2" circle punch. I love the color combination of Blackberry Bliss and Old Olive on a Crumb Cake background. Add a little twine and a little bling and it's a beautifully simple card.

I'm Back!!!

It's been awhile since I've had an opportunity to post, or stamp for that matter. There were some things at my regular 9 to 5 job that had me working long hours for the past several months. Things are slowing down a bit and I'm gradually getting back in the groove.

Since we last talked, Stampin' Up! has released the new annual catalog. There are some great items returning. I was relieved to see some favorites carried over from the Holiday and Spring mini catalogs, as well as some great new items. You can see the PDF version of the catalog below. If you would like a physical catalog, please just let me know and I will be happy to send one along.

I finally sat down last week and did some stamping and I love the card that I came up with. I'll post it tomorrow. Keep your eyes open for a special Paper Pumpkin offer and currently weekly deals too.

Fun with Flower Patch

On Mother's Day, I promised to post the second Mother's Day card that I made as soon as I confirmed that it has been received. For the card for my mom, I chose Flower Patch. I love these cute contemporary flowers that lend themselves to building a variety of different bouquets.

I will admit that I picked up the flower colors and arrangement from a card I found on Pinterest. Forgive me but I couldn't find it again. Also, it is difficult to see, but I used the Polka Dot embossing folder on the Crumb Cake background to give it a bit of texture. I love the happy colors of this card and the bold statement that is perfect for my Mom.

All of the supplies for this card are listed below. You can click on the images to take you directly to that item in my online store. You can also get a printable supply list!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all of the mommies out there. I made Mother's Day cards for my mom and mother-in-law and now that I know that my at least one has been received, I can post it here! I pulled out an oldie but a goody for this card, Summer Silhouettes. I love the simplicity and versatility of this set.

I will post my other Mother's Day card as soon as I know that my Mom has received it.

Farewell to Regarding Dahlias

I guess I'm feeling a bit sad to see some of my stamp sets retiring this year. I decided that I needed to bid a nice farewell to some of my favorites. While searching for some inspiration, I came across this week's Paper Players Sketch Challenge. Here's the sketch:

I decided to break out Regarding Dahlias for this challenge and I wanted it to have a fun girly flair.

I chose Basic Black, Whisper White, and Rose Red for my colors I also used the Back to Black DSP for a  modern flair. And of course, I had to add some rhinestones because I always need something a little shiny.

The Regarding Dahlias stamp set and the Artisan Punch are both currently on the retired list. Get them while you still can!

Painted Petals Thank You

Life has been getting in the way of my crafting lately but I was finally able to sit down at my desk over the weekend and design a new card. Spring is in full force here in Southern California so I felt inspired to break out my Painted Petals stamp set and get to work. Here is a simple but pretty thank you card that I created. I love how the black matting makes the colors pop.

After using the Artisan Label Punch to punch out my sentiment, I punched another label from Rose Red card stock. I then cut the Rose Red label in half which allowed me to create a border at the top and bottom of my sentiment.

The Painted Petals stamp set is available in wood mount, clear mount and photopolymer. I highly recommend the photopolymer for this set as it lends itself to getting the perfect placement of the flowers and stems.

All of the supplies for this card are listed below. You can click on the images to take you directly to that item in my online store. You can also get a printable supply list!

FYI, the Artisan Punch is on the retired list. It's one of my favorites and you can get a really good deal on it while supplies last.

Turtle Power!

This week, I spent a majority of my "free" time working on party favor boxes for a co-worker's grandson's birthday party. It was a pizza party with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as the theme. We decided that mini pizza boxes would be perfect. I took on the challenge and designed little boxes that looked like each of the four turtles.

My co-worker said that they were a hit and they were relatively easy to make (although making 40 of them did take a bit of time).

The 4"x4" boxes started out with 6" x 11" sheets.of Garden Green card stock. I scored on the long side at 1", 5", 6: and 10". I scored on the short side at 1" and 5". I then cut in 1" on each of the scores on the long side. I made sure to use my bone folder to get sharp edges for my boxes and taped them together.

I made belly bands and flags out of Tangelo Twist, Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry and Real Red. To get the right look for the masks I used the gift box punch in the center of each belly band and attached the flags to the back. I punched 1" circles in Whisper White and 1/2" circles out of Basic Black for the eyes. I cheated a bit and used my e-cutter to cut out the mouths and tongues.

I'm usually a big stamper but delving into punch art was fun. Here is a shot of my little treat boxes ready to go off to the party.

Valentine's Day Goodies

Hello all! I know it's been awhile. As soon as the holidays were over everyone in my house came down with a nasty cold. We are finally all well and I've been able to find some time for crafting.
I wanted to do something for Valentines Day for my coworkers. It's been a very busy year so far so I figured everyone could use a pick me up. I was browsing pinterest and saw some little treat holders for those little Ghirardelli squares. It uses the tag topper punch and they are oh so cute and easy to make. Below is what I came up with. I hope to update with the dimensions and products used tonight.
